Your absolute must-take pics for October and Halloween

I don’t know about anyone else, but October is one of my favourite times of the year! With cooler weather, pumpkin picking, and all the vibrant, beautiful autumnal colours, it’s the perfect time to create lasting memories. Halloween adds even more fun with spooky costumes, decorations, and lots of activities going on in and around Ely.

There are so many picture opportunities for you and your family; here are a few every parent should aim for this October! ….

Pumpkin Patch Fun

Nothing says “I’m ready for Halloween” like a trip to a local pumpkin patch. Grab some shots of your little one exploring the patch, whether they’re sitting amongst the pumpkins or holding a tiny one in their hands. Don’t forget to capture the candid moments: your baby’s reactions to seeing all the pumpkins and your family picking out the perfect one. I happen to love a wheelbarrow photo too! It’s easier to keep them still!

Cute Halloween Costumes

Your baby’s Halloween costume deserves to be documented, no matter how old they are! Whether they’re a little pumpkin, a magical witch, or their favourite superhero, this is a once-a-year opportunity to capture the Halloween excitement. Make sure you snap both posed and candid shots. For older kids, you can even create a mini photoshoot with any props/decorations you have at home. Remember to say boo!

Weekend Family Wanders

With all the leaves falling and the weather not too cold yet (hopefully!), October is lovely for family walks. Take advantage of the natural beauty around you and snap some candid shots of your family enjoying a stroll together. Try having your little one throw leaves in the air, too; they’ll have so much fun, and you’ll love the picture! Anglesey Abbey is one of my top places to visit alongside Chippenham Park Gardens! For a freebie, head to a local country park - that way there’s a few quid left for a hot chocolate too!!

Trick-or-Treating

Even if your little one is too young to go trick-or-treating, they can still enjoy the experience of visiting family homes, seeing other kids in costumes, and exploring all the Halloween fun. With older children, snap plenty of pictures of their excitement as they’re walking around, and also, of course, all the sweets they receive! 

October is FULL of opportunities to capture beautiful, memorable photos of your baby and family; these moments will be fondly looked back upon for years to come! Make sure your take advantage of the natural beauty and fun atmosphere this season brings.
